3 Things To Do In San Miguel

Updated: Dec 1, 2021

When Travel and Leisure readers voted San Miguel De Allende the best city in the world for two consecutive years, they weren’t wrong.

We stayed in the Hotel Hacienda Santuario, a beautiful hacienda where each room had its unique style and made you feel like you had traveled back in time. Plus, their kitchen has great chefs who will make native dishes from scratch with flavors unlike any other.

Everything in San Miguel is within walking distance, so one thing you must do is bring some comfy shoes and walk around the central plaza, where you can find shops, restaurants, and rooftop bars with stunning views.

Our first stop was at a chic store called Casa Armida that had very tasteful decorations, clothes, and jewelry designs. It’s a beautiful place where you can find a unique piece.

We continued the adventure with our first rooftop visit at Atrio. Their food, music, and service were top-notch. I ordered a quinoa salad with shrimp and arugula, and it was terrific. I highly recommend this place.

To catch the perfect sunset at San Miguel de Allende, the QUINCE rooftop is the place to be. They voted one of the best mixologist bars in all of México, and their specialty is champagne, so dessert with champagne is my recommendation.

Congratulations to my friend and her husband who got married there, and gave all of us an excuse to experience a magical weekend in San Miguel de Allende, México.

For traveling there, I recommend flying to Queretaro, and from there you will have the option to drive one hour or take a bus or an Uber.

Is there another magical city that you know? Please let me know in the comments below, and have a great week.
