This past weekend, I was in Puebla, México, to visit my brother, who had just moved down there four months ago. We were both excited because it was my first time down there.
This past weekend, I was in Puebla, México, to visit my brother, who had just moved down there four months ago. We were both excited because it was my first time down there.
I stayed at my brother’s apartment in a cool area called Av. Juárez at La Paz St., which is within walking distance from many bars and restaurants. As soon as I landed, he already had a plan for us to go to the place to be on a Friday night called “La Hormiga Negra” During the day it’s a charming restaurant, and during the night it’s a bar where you can enjoy some drinks on the rooftop. Don’t be surprised if there’s not a big sign on the outside. It’s near downtown, and the GPS will tell you exactly how to get there. Their music and drinks are great, and they sell some tasty snacks too. When you go there ask for “Tlayudas,” you will thank me later.
Day one - we decided to explore a museum called “Museo Amapro” at the heart of Puebla. It has a beautiful rooftop where you can chill and drink something refreshing after you’ve enjoyed the art. We opted for the cheese plate with some wine.
After enjoying the museum, we decided to visit the “Teleférico” where you can appreciate a beautiful panoramic view of Puebla.
Day two - we went to a magical little town called “Atlixco.” Their lovely flowers, beautiful weather, and colorful houses were a dream. We stopped by a cute restaurant called el “Meson de las Diligencias” where you can dine on an incredible balcony with a great view. Try not to be alarmed when you see grasshoppers on the menu, and they are a popular dish down there. If you’re feeling adventurous and want to experience the culture entirely, you should try some- they’re not as bad as you think.
Day three - we went to the alley of the toads, “El callejon de los Sapos” in Spanish, where you won’t find toads, but a little market with beautiful hotels, cafeterias with colorful walls, and handmade crafts.
Day four (the last day) - we woke up and decided that I couldn’t leave Puebla before visiting “Ex Hacienda de Chautla” We had a delicious breakfast at the hotel restaurant and walked around to take some pictures before heading back to catch my flight home.
